Are you upset?
Don't you know how to keep your kids engaged in activities?
OR
Do kids spend most of the time on tab/laptop/tv?
Mostly, every mother finds it difficult to keep the kids engaged as technology has replaced outdoor games and physical activities. Newspapers, magazine, research articles have been written to reduce the screen time for kids as it interferes with their emotions. social and intellectual development
Finally, I have come up with a few of the ideas to keep the kids involved n healthy activities.
Here are a few of the activities:
Water Walking Experiment:
Tissue/Toilet papers have capillary action (liquid flows through the narrow spaces due to intermolecular forces between the liquid and solid surfaces) and that can be used to move the colors across the glasses having different food colors.
Icy Rainbow:
Take ice and crush it and pour food colors on the ice and you will get your rainbow. Upon melting, kids will love to play with colored cold melted icy water.
Water Filter using a disposable bottle
To illuminate little minds with scientific concepts here comes up another great idea of designing a filtre using pepsi bottles. Follow the link to get your hands on it and let your little champs work with it.

Concept of color theory:
Red, yellow and blue are three basic colors which combines together to make secondary colors green, orange and purple. Just buy poster colors and take a disposable plate or a transparent or white card board and let the kids play and fun with colors. Here is a link for a youtube video for further guidance.
2D and 3D Shapes using playdough.
Prepare your own playdough at home by taking equal quantities of cornflour and german glue (1 packet of cornflour and 1 small bottle of german glue) as store bought playdough is too expensive to buy. Drawing on a paper is 2D (2-dimensional) and everything in this real world is 3D. 2D shapes have length and width whilist, 3D shapes have a width, length and depth. Circle and triangle is an example of 2D Shapes and Pism, cylinder, cubes and cones are examples of 3D shapes.
Follow the link to have more idea about the activity.
If you have open space available in your house, did a hole and either buy a plant from a nearby, nursery or take the seeds of a plant and let the kids do all by themselves ........
In case you have space issue then take transparent disposable glasses anf fill it with soil, add the seeds in soil and later on it can be shifted to a vase.
Playing with the Cloudy dough:
Cloudy dough is quite famous among kids and can be made at home very easily.
Recipe:
flour:8 cup
baby oil: 1 cup
While following above recipe we ended up in making another fun-dough just by mixing flour with water and it kept them engrossed over an hour.
How to code:
Kids from 6 to 13 can learn coding through simple tutorials available on different websites.Th is could be quite interesting for kids to design simple games on Scratch and Hour of Code.
If you have more ideas to keep the kids engaged, please give your suggestions in comments.
